We attended this year’s Robertson Wedding Fair hosted by the Robertson Tourism office in March at the Robertson show grounds, and driving from Worcester we enjoyed the scenic views this side of the mountains have to offer.
We had opted to buy tickets online for R70 instead of at the door for R80 and attended on the second day, the Sunday, which in some cases can be a risky business. We were met with a scurry at the registration table just after 9:00 and after receiving our wrist bands we started through the outside of the show grounds.
We met some very interesting wedding specialists including our very own Robertson based wedding vendor Flourish and there were a few prizes at some of the stands, including a key guesting game at a new venue in the area, very appropriately named the Key. Some of the stands truly outdid themselves and areas of the bridal expo were a feast for the eyes.
The Robertson Wedding Fair had sponsored a wedding that had taken place the Saturday evening at the show grounds and we could see the evidence of the celebrations the night before. The newlywed couple took some time to walk through the stands and met with vendors and guests alike.
As we finished walking through the stands on the outside of the show grounds we enjoyed some cinnamon crepes, (South African Pancakes), and made our way inside for the fashion show. After some announcements and prize giving the first models took to the stage to showcase a variety of dresses from the designers and boutiques at the expo. The fashion show also included a suit for the grooms and took thrift savvy brides into consideration and featured pre-loved dresses throughout the show.
Once the fashion show ended we made our way through all the wedding vendors inside the main hall and took in more stands that were beautifully decorated, making sure to stop at Flourish’s stand before ending our day with gourmet ice-cream while listening to Burger le Roux.
We have said it before and we will say it again, we love attending bridal expos at wedding venues. So it was quite interesting to see how the Robertson Wedding Fair set up the layout of their bridal expo at the Robertson show grounds, and although there was not as many wedding vendors as we expected, the variety in categories was well rounded and we look forward to attending next year.
